Microsoft’s Office 365 package is a subscription service that lets you pay for Office on a monthly (or yearly) basis instead of buying it outright, like in previous versions. We’ve explained all about Office 365 if you’re not sure what it entails.
If you don’t explicitly cancel your Office 365 subscription, it renews automatically on your credit card like most subscription services do. So, it’s a good idea to check on your subscription status if you haven’t in a while.
Visit the Office homepage and click Sign in at the upper-right corner of the page. Sign in with your email associated with the account; you can open any Office app and go to File > Account to review this address if you’re not sure.
Once signed in, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the My Account link. On the right side, you’ll see a Manage Account heading, which lets you know the time your subscription will automatically renew.
To stop the renewal, click Manage Account under this heading and under Renewal Information, you can Turn off auto-renew or Cancel Subscription.
The former will halt your Office 365 service at the time listed on the previous page, while the latter will immediately cancel your service and keep you from using Office to edit files after you do it.
If you’re sure you don’t want Office after your current time ends, the first option is the one to pick so you aren’t accidentally charged again.
